Scared for Democracy

I have been following the Republican presidential candidates every once in a while. I don't know everything about all of the candidates, but what I do know is that I fear for democracy. Michele Bachman and Rick Perry scare me. I believe if either are elected, the United States will no longer be a democratic society. With their election, I while be looking for universities outside of our wonderful country.

Conditions will undoubtedly worsen. But how?

An important battle is being fought over perception. In this country people are still voting against their own interests. What we need to win is the battle for perspective. The election of a Republican would imply to me that the wrong perspective is winning the public sentiment. WE NEED FOLKS LIKE YOU TO STICK AROUND AND KEEP FIGHTING.

Until we figure out a way to break the media control over the perception of these crises, nothing is going to change. We need to work on disseminating the perceptiveness that matter: working class, unemployed, under privileged, and minority perspective.

We can't just leave them behind!

I agree with John. So many kids now simply give up and accept the fucked up shit that happens every day. They become disillusioned with the prospect of failure and give in to the idea passed on by their parents and administrators that "things could be worse." Fuck them I say! It's up to us, the youth, to fight every day and never stop till we get what we want.

Ultimately, I feel that many of your fears of a democracy-less American political scheme has already been realized. That means Elan and John are right: the question is not will or should we fight, but how and when!
