BLOG ENTRY
Good Morning, America.
Topic Response: Crackdown USA?

I am not from the United States. Now before you disregard everything below, you should know that the United States affects me almost as much as it does you. I was a foreign exchange student in Chicago in 05' and since then I have visited the U.S. many times and I have found my future wife there.

The land of the free is merely a saying now. SOPA, NDAA, ACTA and the Patriot Act are all things that restricts your freedom.

How can you be free when you have to worry about getting an education and wondering about if you can pay the bill
if you or your kids get sick? How can you be free when you know that you will be knee deep in debt before you turn 21?
Free education and healthcare is a human right, dont let them tell you otherwise.
America is beautiful and kind, but your system is corrupt. Your congress, house and president is bought and it is about
time you tell them you will no longer be a sheep and to get the money out of politics.

As a society you need to take care of each other to raise the standard of living and freedom. You cannot grow as a society
if the 1% act as parasites on the remaining 99%. If someone fell on the street and got hurt, would you not feel the responsibility to help them even if you don't know them? Free healthcare and education is the same thing, except everybody is helping everyone.

I am fortunate enough to live in a country where I get paid to go to school and healthcare is completely free, minimum wage is $17 but minimum tax is 38%. Those 38% goes to: Schools, Colleges, Universities, Librairies, Healthcare, Retirement Homes, Unemployment Pay, Kindergardens and so much more. We take care of everyone even though we most likely won't meet one another, but we're helping everyone just like we would help a stranger on the street.

You're going the wrong way. As great as I make socialism sound I do also see the greatness of capitalism, but corporate companies have been given too much power and its not about power anymore, but greed. Your government have failed you in protecting you from these major companies that now have a say in everything from advertising to politics.

But you are waking up now and I am glad to see that you're progressing into a better future.

It seems like your government has long sinced abandoned the people. Their only interest now is corporate and money.

You make them listen. You make their interest the people.

You are the people. You are the power.

Maybe you dont want to do it for yourself or the next man.

But then do it for the future of your kids.

Make them tell stories of how the people overthrew a fascist government. And won.

So turn off your TV's, stand up for your rights and walk into Washington and make them set you free.

Until then, you will be an empty shell of a human existence.

You are the UNITED States and you need to be, because divided you WILL fall.

With love and sincerity,

A concerned fellow human being.

Don't we have a socialism of sorts here? For the rich? Perhaps that is indicative of the ethically ambiguous nature of a liberal-democratic political system? Are European countries really genuine working-class states or the the State's apparatuses tooled to protect the injustices of capitalism inherent contradictions?

You expressed the situation here in the U.S. so well! And English is not even your native language!

The problem is that Corporations basically run our country. Ex: the drug/pharmaceutical companies don't want to have to lower the costs of their drugs because there's not as much profit. The health care industry is so into greed they have forgotten that it is morally wrong to make a profit on someone's health. Everyone should be able to go to a doctor when he or she needs one! It all started with President Richard Nixon as Michael Moore brought to our attention is his movie, "Sicko". Before him, health care was a very reasonable cost in the US.

I read a statistic that said we pay more in taxes in the U.S. than other industralized countries yet the Republicans poison the minds of their contituents with the word "socialism". It comes from the old communist days in the 50's when socialism as associated with communism and the Republicans won't let anyone forget it. It's their "fear" word and everyone cringes when they hear it.
